Dalwhinnie Farm is a small, private kennel. We are attempting to consistently produce top quality Parson Russell Terriers, such as we believe based on our own experiences would have been bred and worked with hounds to fox by Parson John Russell himself. Our dogs are taller (13 to 14 inches) and with more bone than is typically seen in the United States. They also carry the good temperament necessary for a real working terrierman - or a family seeking a pet. They are bright, willing workers, not given to being snappy or hard.

Our bloodlines include primarily Glenholm, Hoelio/Heliwar, Somerwest and Ridley. All of these are British kennels of high regard. We are interested solely in Parson Russell Terriers and not in the often flashier and harder Lakeland crossbreds. We are focused on producing terriers who will stand the test of time in the ring, field and by the hearth -- not simply here today, gone tomorrow show dogs.

We are interested in working with others who think as we do, such as The Jacks Wild Kennel in Reno, NV, Junction Kennels in Hendersonville, TN, and Glenholm Kennel in Edinburgh, Scotland. If you want a dog to hunt, show, or simply to love, we hope you will consider Dalwhinnie Farm.

Special notes about the music on this page:

D'ye Ken John Peel
Did ye ken John Peel wid his cwote sae grey?
Did ye ken John Peel at the breck o' day?
Did ye ken John peel gayin' far, far away -
Wie his hoons and his horn in a mwornin'?
For the sound o' the horn caw'd me fra my bed.
As the crt o' the hoons he often led,
For Peels view holla wad waken the dead,
Or a fox frae his lair in a mwornin.'

Here are a couple of links to associate with this song, a history of Peel, a complete list of the words to the song in both the original Cumbrian and modern "English" and also a link to the family who is kindly sharing, David Larsen in South Africa.

The information and music for John Peel were shared by the kindness of The Larsen family.
